Dr. Lance Jackson M.D.

The Ear Institute of Texas’ mission is to be the leading vestibular diagnostic resource, committed to serving and providing the highest level of healthcare to our patents, utilizing the latest technological advances to effectively treat and rehabilitate a growing population with vestibular disorders. We are also committed to providing the best diagnostic, medical, and surgical care for patients with hearing disorders, using the most advanced technology available. Meet Our Staff

Lance E. Jackson, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Otology/Neurotology: Adult & Pediatric

Dr. Jackson is board-certified in Otolaryngology—Head and Neck Surgery, and specializes in the field of Otology and Neurotology.  After growing up in San Antonio, Dr. Jackson attended the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) where he received a degree in biomedical and electrical engineering. While there, he performed extensive research in biomedical signal processing, modeling of bioelectric systems, and computer technology, which he now applies to continued research in the field of neurotology (the study of the ear and skull base).


Dr. Jackson was granted a full tuition scholarship to attend medical school at Washington University in St. Louis (ranked by U.S. News & World Report as a top three medical school in 2005). While there, he received the honor of being elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society, an honor bestowed to those in the top of their medical school class.  He completed his surgical and otolaryngology residencies at Stanford University, where he and his family enjoyed experiencing the San Francisco Bay Area. He completed a postgraduate fellowship in otology and neurotology at the Ear Research Foundation in Sarasota, Florida.

After completing his fellowship and before moving to San Antonio, Dr. Jackson remained at the Ear Research Foundation as Director of Medical Education, enjoying the opportunity to teach physicians in training and perform research.
 
Dr. Jackson has published many medical journal articles, written chapters for Neurotology, 2nd Edition and Ear and Temporal Bone Surgery, and has presented at many national meetings.  His research awards include the John R. Smith Memorial Fund Award.  He has published in the prestigious New England Journal of Medicine.

He remains on clinical faculty at the UT Health Science Center at San Antonio and continues to instruct internationally advertised courses annually in order to train other doctors in his specialty.  His research has culminated in the recent publication of a text entitled Minimally Invasive Otological Surgery, which he co-authored.  Dr. Jackson was referred by his peers as one of the top doctors in San Antonio (Scene in SA Monthly, December 2005).
 
Dr. Jackson has also worked as an electrical engineer designing computer processors at Sun Microsystems and Texas Instruments, as a biomedical engineer heading projects in industry, and as a medical consultant for a start-up company. He continues to utilize his engineering background for application toward development of medical techniques and devices.   

He has coached all three of his children in soccer, enjoys playing indoor soccer, and has run numerous half-marathons and a marathon.  He has completed, with his family, a medical mission in Honduras to provide much-needed medical care and education.

Barry Morgan, PT
Physical Therapist: Otology/Neurotology

Barry Morgan PT, of Morgan Therapy Consulting, has been a physical therapist for 20 years. He works closely with Dr. Jackson and the team at the Ear Institute of Texas to provide our patients with their vestibular and balance therapy needs.  His interest in sports and personal injuries led him to his calling in rehabilitation.  Barry's degrees in Anatomy, Psychology, and Physical Therapy and his extensive experience allow him to provide customized therapy treatments for our patients who have vestibular and balance disorders

 

Barry also is involved in research, performance enhancement for athletes, exercise product development, and teaches educational seminars nationally on a variety of therapy topics.

Barry is a native Texan and has lived in San Antonio for 20 years.  He has been married for 19 years to Selina (also a physical therapist), and is blessed with three great children.  When not in the clinic, with his family, or at church activities, you will probably find this health nut working out at home or at  the gym trying to work on his own balance, cardiovascular fitness, flexibility, and strength goals. 

 


Jennifer M. Leddy, Au.D., CCC-A,
F-AAA

Director of Audiology

Dr. Jennifer Leddy received her Bachelor of Arts from the University of Maine, and graduated magna cum laude and with honors.  She obtained her Doctorate of Audiology from the University of Louisville School of Medicine.  Dr. Leddy is a member of the American Academy of Audiology and holds a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association.

 

Dr. Leddy has clinical experience working in private practice settings, at the Louisville Veterans Affairs Medical Center, and Kosair Children’s Hospital.  In her free time she has volunteered her services to the Texas Special Olympics working with the Callier Center doing hearing screenings and provided testing at a local cranio-facial clinic. 

Given her love of clinical diversity, the Ear Institute of Texas has been an ideal fit for her because of the extensive diagnostic testing, challenging cases, work with both traditional hearing aids and bone-anchored hearing aids, MAPping of cochlear implants, and the opportunity for community outreach through health fairs, community lectures, and educational seminars to related fields.

 


Stephen Williams, MA, CCC-A
Audiology: Adult & Pediatric

Stephen Williams is one of the audiologists at the Ear Institute of Texas. Somewhat of a late comer to the profession, he obtained his master’s degree in Audiology from the University of Northern Colorado in 1996, after several years in sales and marketing.

Although originally from Colorado, Stephen grew up in Kenya, East Africa and attended a boarding school there for five years.  He has been living in Texas for the past eight years, mainly working for organizations

 

such as the University Hospital and other local clinics in San Antonio, helping the hard of hearing. He also works part time in Laredo, Texas with an ENT physician, primarily working with children and infants, as the need is tremendous in that area.  Personal amplification technology has improved drastically over the past few years, making it easier to help people with hearing loss hear better with personal amplification.  Stephen’s goal is to make your experience at the Ear Institute of Texas a positive one.

Stephen Williams started working for the Ear Institute of Texas in early 2007. He has performed hearing and balance testing, and he has extensive experience fitting hearing aids and personal amplification devices for those with hearing loss.
